Ahsoka Tano, The Jedi Who Walked Away

Ahsoka Tano: The Jedi Who Walked Away

Ahsoka Tano is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe. She was introduced as the Padawan learner of Anakin Skywalker in the animated film and series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where she fought alongside him and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the galactic conflict. She also appeared in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, where she helped the fledgling rebellion against the Empire. And most recently, she made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian, where she encountered Din Djarin and Grogu, the Child.

But who is Ahsoka Tano, and what makes her so special? How did she go from being a young and eager Jedi apprentice to a wise and powerful Force-user who operates outside the Jedi Order? And what can we expect from her upcoming live-action series on Disney+?

Ahsoka’s journey continued in The Mandalorian, where she appeared in the episode “The Jedi”. She was on the planet Corvus, where she was trying to liberate the city of Calodan from the tyrannical rule of Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth, who had a connection to Thrawn. She encountered Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who had been hired by Elsbeth to kill her. However, Din had another motive: he was looking for a Jedi who could help him with Grogu, a Force-sensitive child of Yoda’s species who was in his care.

Ahsoka’s Origins

Ahsoka’s Origins

Ahsoka Tano was born on the planet Shili, a world inhabited by the Togruta species. She was discovered by Jedi Master Plo Koon when she was only three years old, and he brought her to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to be trained as a Jedi. She was assigned to Anakin Skywalker as his Padawan when she was 14 years old, as part of a plan by Master Yoda to help Anakin overcome his attachment issues.

Ahsoka quickly proved herself to be a brave and loyal companion to Anakin, as well as a skilled and resourceful fighter. She participated in many battles and missions during the Clone Wars, earning the respect of her fellow Jedi and clone troopers. She also formed a close bond with Captain Rex, the leader of the 501st Legion, who became her trusted friend and ally.

Ahsoka’s Trials

However, Ahsoka’s life as a Jedi was not without challenges and hardships. She faced many dangers and enemies, such as the Sith Lord Darth Maul, the bounty hunter Cad Bane, and the rogue Jedi Barriss Offee. She also witnessed the horrors of war and its effects on innocent lives. She learned valuable lessons from her mentors, such as Anakin, Obi-Wan, Plo Koon, and Yoda, but she also developed her own opinions and beliefs about the Jedi Order and its role in the galaxy.

One of the most pivotal moments in Ahsoka’s life was when she was framed for a bombing at the Jedi Temple and accused of murder. She was expelled from the Jedi Order and put on trial by the Republic. Although she was eventually cleared of all charges thanks to Anakin’s efforts, she felt betrayed and disillusioned by the Jedi Council and their lack of trust in her. She decided to leave the Order and walk away from her life as a Jedi.

Ahsoka’s Journey

After leaving the Jedi Order, Ahsoka went into hiding and tried to find a new purpose in life. She eventually became involved in a rebel cell led by Bail Organa, a senator who opposed the Empire. She adopted the codename Fulcrum and acted as an informant and coordinator for various rebel groups across the galaxy. She also encountered some old friends, such as Rex, who had survived Order 66 thanks to removing his inhibitor chip, and Anakin’s former astromech droid R2-D2.

Ahsoka also crossed paths with a new generation of heroes, such as Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Zeb Orrelios, who formed the crew of the Ghost ship and were part of the Phoenix Cell. She joined forces with them on several occasions and helped them fight against the Empire. She also faced some old enemies, such as Darth Vader, who was revealed to be her former master Anakin Skywalker, corrupted by the dark side. She confronted him on Malachor, a Sith world where she discovered an ancient temple that contained a portal to a mysterious dimension known as the World Between Worlds.

The World Between Worlds was a place where time and space were fluid and connected by various pathways. Ahsoka entered this realm and encountered Ezra Bridger, who had used another portal to access it from Lothal. Ezra had witnessed Ahsoka’s duel with Vader through his portal and had pulled her into his portal before Vader could strike her down. Together, they explored the World Between Worlds and saw glimpses of different events in history. They also encountered Emperor Palpatine, who tried to capture them and gain access to this power. Ahsoka managed to escape from Palpatine’s grasp and returned to Malachor through her portal, while Ezra returned to Lothal through his portal.

Ahsoka survived her encounter with Vader and remained on Malachor for some time. She eventually left the planet and resumed her role as Fulcrum, helping the rebels in their fight against the Empire. She also embarked on a personal quest to find Ezra Bridger, who had disappeared along with Grand Admiral Thrawn after a space battle over Lothal. She was joined by Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior and artist who had befriended Ezra and had vowed to find him. Together, they set out to search for Ezra and Thrawn in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy.

Ahsoka’s Future

Ahsoka’s journey continued in The Mandalorian, where she appeared in the episode “The Jedi”. She was on the planet Corvus, where she was trying to liberate the city of Calodan from the tyrannical rule of Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth, who had a connection to Thrawn. She encountered Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who had been hired by Elsbeth to kill her. However, Din had another motive: he was looking for a Jedi who could help him with Grogu, a Force-sensitive child of Yoda’s species who was in his care.

Ahsoka sensed Grogu’s presence and communicated with him through the Force. She learned that he had been trained at the Jedi Temple before the rise of the Empire, but had hidden his abilities to survive. She also learned that he had formed a strong bond with Din, whom he considered his father. Ahsoka agreed to help Din and Grogu, but she refused to train Grogu as a Jedi, fearing that his attachment to Din could lead him to the dark side. She suggested that Din take Grogu to the planet Tython, where there was an ancient temple that could connect him to other Jedi in the galaxy.

Ahsoka also asked Din for his help in defeating Elsbeth and freeing Calodan. Together, they stormed the city and confronted Elsbeth and her forces. Ahsoka fought Elsbeth in a fierce duel, while Din faced off against Elsbeth’s henchman, Lang. Ahsoka emerged victorious and demanded to know the location of Thrawn from Elsbeth. Din also prevailed and spared Lang’s life. Ahsoka and Din parted ways as allies and friends, with Ahsoka giving Din a beskar spear as a gift and Din giving Ahsoka Grogu’s pendant as a token of gratitude.

Ahsoka’s story will continue in her own live-action series on Disney+, which will be executive produced by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the creators of The Mandalorian. The series will follow Ahsoka’s adventures after The Clone Wars and Rebels, as she searches for Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Unknown Regions. It will also explore Ahsoka’s role in the larger Star Wars saga, as well as her connection to other characters and events in the galaxy far, far away.
